The NYC police didn't steal his crutches because he was fighting. They stole them because he was homeless.
What the cops did to the one-legged homeless guy was wrong and uncaring but you have to admit those crutches come in handy in a fight.

BLM could have been a force for police reform but they let the leftist anti-cop radicals get in charge. Once they were exposed the organization became toxic for people who wanted positive police reform.
Isn't that kind of biased? You say, "don't blame all cops because of a few bad ones". And then turn around and say, "blame BLM because of a few bad ones". Typical right wing double talk!

"don't blame all cops because of a few bad ones"
If there were only a few bad cops, the "good" ones would weed them out. If you label all the cops who see the debauchery and don't say anything as, "bad" then there aren't many good cops. The "good" cops are called "whistle blowers" and are hung out to dry like Serpico. That is what the, "Thin Blue Line" of silence is about. Any cop who obeys that Thin Blue Line is a "bad" cop.

Now, how many good cops are there left under those conditions?

those crutches come in handy in a fight.
I used them for 25 years and I never had any occasion to hit anybody with them.
Not even an urge.
However, I understand that hero police officers are afraid of those dangerous weapons at a level of severity similar to the way they are afraid of 5 pound puppies. Fortunately, police officers kill way more dogs than people.

PuppycideDB has recorded 2839
acts of violence against animals.

Threat assessment: Hamburger
Cost: $4.4 Million

Cops wrongly shoot at food deliveryman 14 times
Hit him twice

https://www.rt.com/usa/372938-philadelphia-pays-44mn-after-cops/

These highly trained and sufficiently intelligent heroes assessed the threat of a hamburger delivery man and fired 14 bullets at him because he was, "in the area". He didn't, "fit the description". He was just in the area.

Get a call, roll into the neighborhood, shoot anybody you see.
Good cop.

Statistics cut both ways.
http://www.dogsbite.org/
Dog bite statistics ::
Each day, about 1,000 U.S. citizens require emergency care treatment for dog bite injury.1 The following studies examine injury occurrence and the dog breeds most likely to fatally injure.

Dog Attack Deaths and Maimings, U.S. & Canada, September 1982 to December 31, 2014
December 31, 2014
By compiling U.S. and Canadian press accounts between 1982 and 2014, Merritt Clifton, editor of Animals 24-7, shows the dog breeds most responsible for disfiguring injuries and deaths.

The combination of molosser breeds, including pit bulls, rottweilers, presa canarios, cane corsos, mastiffs, dogo argentinos, fila brasieros, sharpeis, boxers, and their mixes, inflict:

  • 86% of attacks that induce bodily harm
  • 81% of attacks to children
  • 89% of attack to adults
  • 76% of attacks that result in fatalities
  • 86% that result in maiming
  • Embody 9.2%+ of the total dog population

Did you forget the 2nd District Court ruling that screening for low IQ in police officers is not only common practice, it is protected by the court?
No I didn't. That decision affirmed the city of New London has a right to use whatever metrics they wanted to hire police, even discarding over qualified ones.

The population of the local governments who use that Wonderlic testing service can demand a change. I can tell you that there are plenty of Dallas PD Academy graduates do the minimum time of the academy and the two OJT periods to go to a force in a different locale. Some veteran PD officers move onward to other departments that pays more.

Some PD's have an extensive background checking.

Sometimes it makes me wonder how Wonderlic determined their metric that Police Officers who remain in their original department longer if their IQ falls within x values.

It could be generic that higher IQ types change jobs more frequently.

The City of New London won their case. New London also won a case where "eminent domain" taking of property for "economic purposes" was legit as well. Both of those cases, held legal by the 2nd circuit, does not speak well of the 2nd Circuit. That case was over a decade ago, and yet, the property still hasn't been developed ... the city owns the property and has not collected one cent of property taxes on it since the confiscation. So much for "economic development."

Sometimes when you have a police officer who is a "shit magnet", one that is involved in more nonsense than the others, you need to look at the nonsense and ensure the "shit magnet" isn't the perp.

@#12 The hiring policies of your local department might be worth viewing to see the minimum requirements. You can get proactive in the local political scene to effect a change.

Here is Dallas PD hiring process.

From deep in the recesses of my memory, you reminded me of one of my favorite "Animal Stories".
That was nice. I smiled a lot.:p
"Chief! We have him surrounded but he refuses to put his hoofs up!"
"You know the penalty for refusing to comply. Empty your guns into him!"

There's no shortage of cops-shoot-and-miss stories on the internet. No one is safe!

The Cop-news isn't very bad today. They are about to learn about Jury Nullification in Tampa, but they didn't kill anybody (that I know about).

I have seen this thing about arresting people for giving away free food for years. One of my friends was doing it. He was a strong Catholic so I told him, "If I got arrested for feeding the homeless, I would have it printed on a T-shirt and wear it to church." (I basically disagree with the Catholic Church, but I don't let that eliminate good people from my life.)

So, the score today is: nobody killed, nobody fed.
