I was reading another article about NYC twin towers. Guys, I gotta tell you, there is something about loosing these towers that has attracted the major fruitcakes in the USA, and makes be glad I call this site my home.

To hear the conspiracy theorists (which is odd, given it really was a conspiracy by Al Qaeda) this was done by the US government, who bored out the columns to create a controlled demolition, used a special thermite paste, and God knows what else. According to this logic(?) I guess the US government wouldn't hesitate to take out 3000 citizens, but don't damage the neighborhood.

To hear these theories is like being inside the looking glass, where logic and common sense has gone out the window, and a weird dream logic rules. Some of these cats go on to say how the Gulf of Tonkin was a conspiracy to start the Vietnam War. The Illuminati and FreeMasons are scattered liberally (with the nuts arguing their favorite theories) through the discussion. Of course, many of them have college degrees and other credentials that make them experts in the field.

There is something fascinating to see mass insanity at work. Thank God I have a place where there seems to be some sanity, and the craziness is my sort. What can I say, I lika da blinky lights.

The article is so-so, it is in the comments the fun begins.

The towers and the pentagon will join the conspiracies like the hunt for JFKs real killers, the search for Elvis, and where the government is hiding the UFOs and the aliens.

I can remember looking down from the 110th floor of WTC and feeling the sensation of moving, ever so slightly. My first re-enlistment ceremony, Oct 1976, was on the 110th floor. It was quite the sight from up there.

I know because Rosie O'Donnell said "I do believe it's the first time in history that fire has melted steel".

The functional problem with most conspiracy theories, which stretches their credibility beyond the breaking point, is that they require the conspirators to be simultaneously perfect and inept in an exquisitely orchestrated way.

Michael Moore's view on what happened to the United States after September 11; and how the Bush Administration allegedly used the tragic event to push forward its agenda for unjust wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
You mention Iraq, and I am in complete agreement, but I wonder where the Afghanistan part came from? The then government facilitated an attack on the United States and it is an unjust war? <Shakes head> Weird.

Well I think when I was watching the planes hit,It was hard to believe
at first.Getting past all the loss, and being a cable watcher.I had seen
a lot of building demolished,The T.V. would do a good job of giving you
advance notice. So after seeing many buildings come down with there
perfection. When the first tower went down,It looked like one of the
by the book take down of a building, without all the crowds being held
back. The differents, the newscasters were at a loss of words, they were
watching along with us.They had never experienced war,we were all one
that day for a couple of hours. Then we fell apart and have never regained
our freedom. We did not stand tall,we gave our security away, one agency
after another,we have learned more about our government. You are an
unnamed victim In what is to come, you will not be rushed into a bunker.
Who had the assurance that the planes caring The Ben Laden's family
was not going to hit other targets. Who was watching the radar, from
what tower. I walked the plank for Shortbus.

I agree with you on this one Loosie. While Al Qaeda has suffered serious set backs (I don't think Laudin figured on the USA response) they are not down. Given half a chance they would love a repeat of 9/11.

When this mess started everyone was finishing with "and the terrorists win!". Well, the terrorists have gotten a lot of what they wanted. We are substantially less free than when this "War on Terror" started, and there is a very good chance we'll never get it back. We routinely put up with things that would not have been imagined in the mid 1990's. I suspect in 20 years we'll put up with even more.

Bureaucracy is the death of freedom, and answering to a bureaucrat is a form of tyranny. It wouldn't be as bad if they had any brains to speak of, but put a child's name on the no fly list and see what has happened. I have a friend who name is on the list, when he travels overseas he usually sends his family ahead on a intercontinental flight while he again straightens out that it isn't him.

It may be I am over dramatizing, but overall I don't think I am. We just have wait to see what happens in the future. When Republicans talk about big government, to me it is code for allowing corporations (whom they represent) to screw us over. When Democrats talk they want to have the government screw us over with intrusive government regulations (for our own good). Either way we tend to be screwed, and both seem to be in lockstep about personal freedoms.

Islamic fundamentalist terror is in my opinion a direct consequence of the fact that men and women are forcibly segregated in those societies that swelter under the irrational and arbitrary oppression of dour, women-loathing bearded clerics. Unmarried young muslim men grow up literally demented with desire to socialize with single women, yet are restrained from so much as looking at them by those 17th-century gender-apartheid edicts under which they quietly stew, and due to the fact that their women are forced to wear hermetically sealed, full-body gunny sacks and Batman masks whenever in public.

That stifling regime of brutally imposed sexual frustration creates entire generations of young, testosterone-addled men whose terminal horniness is cleverly expoited by those same bearded clerics, who, with a straight face, promise the services of 70 virgins to all young Muslim men willing to go out and commit calculated mass murder, as a blood-soaked pre-requisite to qualify for the promised heavenly orgy.

Some of the 911 suicide pilots are on record as having looked up escort services during their brief stay in Las Vegas, presumably with the intent of getting a sneak preview of the sexual activity they were banking would ensue on their arrival in murderers' heaven. The lead hijacker's final letter to his fellow suicide squads did go into elaborate detail about the need to observe meticulous personal hygiene in preparation for the expected copulation with the "brown-eyed virgins in Paradise".

For as long as the de-humanization and forced segregation of women remains a cornerstone of fundamentalist Islam, the West will continue to be regarded as the "Great Satan", for the simple reason that Western women are accorded fundamental freedoms which include the perogative to dress as they please, and associate with whoever they please, regardless of gender.

The free world breathed a collective sigh of relief when Bin Laden finally got his overdue payback, but he was only one particularly vile representative specimen from a global sub-culture of equally depraved and bloodthirsty lunatics who are all bent on perpetuating the war of civilisations championed by Bin Laden and other similarly wild-eyed men in tatty beards who infest so many of the backwater countries whose names end with the "-istan" suffix.

In short, there will NEVER be a future time in which the West can afford to drop its guard with respect to terrorism preparedness, and, as Bill Marsden points out above, this post-911 world will undoubetdly witness the erosion of even more of the basic freedoms we all once took for granted.

There was talk not to long ago about giving women the right to drive. I suspect in the long term that will be society changing. When you can force women to stay home and never go out they are uniquely repressed in a way that is pretty hopeless. Give them the right to travel, now that is basic freedom.

Both the right to vote and cars took women from a culture where they were valued property to they were near equals. Making them complete equals took a lot longer, and it could be argued we're not there yet. Fact is, biology has put constraints on females that don't exist for males.

The links you have posted are very positive developments indeed, VoodooMojo. The sooner basic human rights are accorded all human beings, the sooner those cultural differences that breed terroism begin to melt away.

I certainly hope that the more extreme mis-interpretations of theological dogma give way to simple common sense in my lifetime, but I won't hold my breath awaiting the time when that necessary step of human evolution occurs for all the globe's cultures.

@ Monster Catfish ,The men that caused this was far removed from the tribal
regions that you describe. No.. I don't think they were sexual deprived. They
had been traveling the world. Long before that day hotels were rented in south
florida and millons spent to impress upon us the U.S. how much money they had
to spent. They bought and paid for everybody, even protection..money bought
that. What position are you In to talk about the last 7 years.

Malcolm X once said, "Power in defense of freedom is greater than power in behalf of tyranny and oppression".

...
with that, breeds hope.
Nothing tastes as sweet as freedom, ....nothing.

I hope the new found freedom will be righteous and spread vigorously throughout the region and beyond.

Back to the conspiracy theorists for brief minute; Have you ever read further into it? I have...
If you think the towers conspiracy theory is bogus, keep reading; follow the links, follow the rabbit hole, for an entertaining ride. If you start reading these conspiracy theories, you can start out with "towers falling was a government conspiracy" then follow it in a direct line from "perpetrated by the Illuminati control of the government" ...to... "Illuminati has been in control of the government since the beginning, evidence in the pictures on the dollar bill" ...to... "Illuminati have special powers" ...to... "Illuminati are actually green lizard creatures which have cloaked themselves in human-like skin and can disappear at will" ...all the way to.... "george W. Bush is one such green lizard creature". You would not beleive what some people are capable of believing.

Well, it kinda makes sense. they're resistant to learning how to drive well.
The investigators discovered that teenage boys start recklessly, with about 20 per cent more crashes per mile driven than teenage girls. Males and females between the ages of 20 and 35 run almost identical risks. Females over the age of 35, however, are significantly more likely to crash than their male counterparts.
By the way....what's with the twin tower conspiracy?
Out of boredom I assume, Some people entertain a hobby of trying to read conspiracy between the lines of every day events. The more notariety the event, the wilder the conspiracy. They get so engrossed in the hobby that they actually convince themselves of the conspiracy, and go on to try to convince other like-minded people (often successfully) of the same. They cry wolf so often that if any of them ever did encounter a real conspiracy, nobody would listen to them.
