Any "how to" manual that long will certainly have some contradictions, some theory, some guesses and explanations of various uncertainties.

Looks like Ford math to me.

I added $19.77 plus $1.63 and came up with $21.40. Close to their $21.35, but even accounting for a dropped digit - the math STILL doesn't work out.

Calculating the shown tax for 9.77 comes to 16.7%. Remind me not to shop there. On the other hand, tax on 19.77 and 1.63 comes to 8.245% tax. A bit more reasonable. Still, the numbers either way don't work out.

 

I'm also wondering if the 3 items actually add up to $9.77
The computer programming has been obviously created by someone not quite yet out of diapers.

One of my early jobs back when I was young (yes, Peter Pan grew up) was working for a lighting services company that serviced emergency lighting equipment. Every day we'd get our daily assignments. When I was given the "Partners Cafe" everyone started laughing. I had no idea why. When I got there wearing my jeans, work boots, clipboard and tool belt - everyone there was wearing a jock strap.

I rescheduled.
