Several years ago, some investigators proved the existence a little brain on the heart which acts like a real brain in the head [1].

Recent investigations show that patients who gave hearts from donors, obtain some characteristics of them. One of them was Sylvia who declared that soon after her operation, she felt like drinking beer, something she hadn’t particularly been fond of before. Later, she observed an uncontrollable urge to eat chicken nuggets and found herself drawn to visiting the popular chicken restaurant chain, et al., [4]. This means that the little brain could be transformed from one body to another during heart transplantation.

Some months later Asimov was alarmed to see the piece appear in the March 1948 issue of Astounding under his own name, and copies of the issue circulated at the Columbia chemistry department. Publishing papers like that are what earn researchers the Ig Noble Award. Awarded by the Annals of Improbable Research Journal. AIR's chief Airhead Marc Abrahams and the AIR folks sponsor the award ceremony each year at Harvard.

EDIT: What you need to understand is that the award is given for actual research papers done by "serious" scientists that were published in peer-reviewed serious publications!

AH! SUPER GLUE! Reminds me of a prank I pulled:

Back in the 80's was working for an oilfield tool manufacturer. Two inspectors (I was also an inspector) would stop passers by and ask if they could spare a quarter. (25¢) The assumption was they wanted a cup of coffee. Once the victim handed them a quarter or two the victim was handed a slip of paper saying "You've just been phucked out of a quarter. How does it feel to belong to the Dumb Phuck's Club?" Well, that was me.

They had some kind of neoprene plastic jar with a plastic lid with a slot cut in the top; like a piggy bank. One Saturday morning when they were not coming in I snatched their jar and super-glued the lid shut. Came in Monday morning to see two HUGE ladies with screwdrivers that looked more like crow bars, with the plastic jar in the vice, they wrenching on the lid trying to get it loose. That poor jar just flexed and folded and moved all over the place but they couldn't get the lid off. Laughed my arse off. They finally took it to the machine shop where the lid was cut off.

I got called to my bosses office and was scolded for messing with their money. After taking my licks my boss gave me the thumbs up and said she had been a victim too. Was in trouble, but at the same time a hero. Nothing more came of it.
