I had gas stoves my entire life with the exception of 1972 to 1975 when I had an apartment with an electric stove. I'll be 73 next month and despite my old age ailments one thing I don't have is asthma. Now where the hell did I put that rescue inhaler down? Asthma is from what I read mainly an allergic response. I grew up on as farm where we cooked with wood fires, gas, lived in dirt and even used DDT to kill those nasty Texas bugs. I'm old enough to collect full social security but i'm still working full time because I love it. Have zero known allergies and never had a touch of asthma. Maybe because I spent so little time indoors while eating like horse then working like a mule while breathing good country air when young, it gave me an great immune system.I'm betting most of us old guys posting here grew up in homes with gas cook stoves. I agree, the propaganda is on all sides. Greatly reducing our reliance on fossil fuels is critical to reducing and maybe reversing the effects of human climate change but it's not helped by virtue signaling stunts like this.We have had gas, then electric and now an induction cook top. The induction cook top is by far the best. I would not have or recommend any other.
If over there they do phase out gas, I would imagine it will be a ban on new installs and no one will be coming to take your stoves away. That is just propaganda drummed up to try to score political points. Here, in Oz, we watch with interest and some amazement, the political circus in the US of A (my wife is from there) and this seems to me to be just the next act.

It's a complex issue and IMO most scientific studies agree that modern gas stove exposure is at most a small factor with things like proper ventilation being much more important.Environmental risk factors to which urban adults were more frequently exposed than rural adults were dust mites,high levels of vehicle emissions, and a westernized lifestyle.Exposure to indoor biological contaminants in the urban environment is common.The main risk factors for developing asthma in urban areas are atopy and allergy to house dust mites, followed by allergens from animal dander. House dust mite exposure may potentially explain differences in diagnosis of asthma prevalence and morbidity among adults in urban vs. rural areas. In addition, the prevalence of asthma morbidity increases with urbanization. High levels of vehicle emissions,Western lifestyles and degree of urbanization itself, may affect outdoor and thereby indoor air quality. Thanks for the sympathy, but it is well controlled now, haven’t had a serious attack in years, only minor wheezing maybe once a year. The sister closest to my age also had problems with it. I don't know about what kind of sotve you have but most all gas stoves made in the last10 or so years don't have a pilot light anymore. They use an electric spark to start both the burners and the oven.New stoves require electricity to power their flame sensor above the pilot light and won't start if the electricity is off.
I'm with you on that. I try to stay away from High fructose products and use cane sugar for sweeteners, As kids in Texas most soft drinks were cane sugar based and we used and cooked with molasses because sugar cane was grown there. I stopped drinking Bourbon and switched to rye based drinks to reduce sugars. My wife cooks a lot from scratch meals using fresh/organic ingredients. There is no real substituent for a gas fired wok in the house or a food truck. You can elevate the wok and use different parts of the flame, try doing that with an induction cook-top.My wondering is who was behind the gas stove study? It's in everything today, from your soft drink to your bread and other things you wouldn't think even needed sugar, almost any processed food has it. From what I've seen the FDA says it's ok, but the studies of the dangers were funded and done by the people that make it.
