Testing semiconductor diode properties with a simple divider?

Hello everybody,

I want to test the properties of some diodes but I'm away from home.

All I have at my disposal is a 19V laptop charger.

Can I use it with a properly-rated pot to test the I vs. V properties of the various diodes?

Also, the diodes being based on a SiC crystal, do I have to worry about UV exposure?

A 19V laptop charger is not much help unless it puts out AC voltage.

You can make a simple curve tracer but you will need a low voltage AC source, a resistor and an oscilloscope that can display X-Y.
