I saw that this morning. My immediate question was whether the truck can be driven without the "truck bed " covered, as one might need to do while hauling tall objects. My second impression is that the top of the line model has a 0 to 60 rating of 2.9 seconds (same as fast sports cars), 1/4 mile in 10.8 seconds, and a 500 mile range.

In brief, you have a pick-up truck with good sports car performance and all-wheel drive that is silent and has minimal radar cross section. Wonder whether it might find other uses for hauling "stuff" relatively undetected?

How are the motors made? How is it they can be so powerful compared to other electric motors that don't look that much smaller, like a 1/8HP washing machine motor or whatever they are.

Has anyone tried hooking them up to a go-cart or lawn mower ? They'd lose a lot of traction, but might be dangerous enough to try.

I sold those shares that I bought at 235 last April just this morning for $405. Return of 72% in 8 months. I couldn't resist coming here to gloat.

Now I'll wait for some bad news and look for a chance to get back in.

[update] For the record, I don't advocate trying to time the market. Whether you miss the bottom price by buying too soon or too late, or miss selling the top, it'll drive you crazy. On average, most investors lose by engaging in timing. Only the winners tout their results, just like other gamblers. My exploits with Tesla (or any single stock) represent a small fraction of my portfolio.

 

The market is for long play, not get rich quick. As long as I can stay 5-8% I'm happy.

 

Well, I'm out. This morning I sold my last shares of TSLA at $475 and change. I bought in Sept '18 at about $260, so that's 83% gain in 16 months. Can't complain about that. But I will complain if it keeps shooting up over 500 or more. We'll see.

 

My wife wants to put down the $100 for the Tesla pickup. She thinks it is cool. I hate it and like the Rivian. No way I'm pulling up to a boat ramp in the Tesla. Help me!
