I'm guessing the word "compassion" does not exist in the North Korean vocabulary...
For tourists that travel with companies that advertise “budget trips to destinations your mother would rather you stayed away from”, no they don't. The poor man was that accident that's always waiting to happen.

Over the years of its operation Young Pioneer Tours has developed a reputation for gung ho and unruly alcohol-fuelled youths, propagating an unreal idea of North Korea where safety is an afterthought. Its culture trickles down to their guests – Warmbier was reportedly up drinking until 5am on the night of his “crime”, and YPT says it was unaware he had even been separated from the group by Korean officials until they had boarded the plane home. A quick Google of “young pioneer tours drunk” will bring up plenty of anecdotes of this kind of behaviour, usually from disgruntled non-drinkers, reporting on alcohol-induced bad behaviour by guides, travel companions or both.

It took the bullet almost 10 seconds to hit its target, it reports.
That sounds fishy to me. Sound, travelling at 1100 fps will reach that target in 10 seconds. I think the bullet would get there quicker.

I do not doubt the shot or the distance.

Wouldn't the terminal speed of the bullet be strongly affected by long distances? Maybe that could explain it.

Recently there was an amateur art contest in the Netherlands. They were invited to create a work of art depicting the current era of multiculturalism in Europe and a depiction of their experience in the modern melting pot.
This was the winner!View attachment 129603
I believe the picture is someone's work of art. But can you document the source that states its analogy with islam? The two words are just photoshopped on the image, after all.

Some terrorists are nihilists and libertarians. Just seeking that firepower and funds needed to make damage to everybody else that disagrees with them.

Oh I know that those subsets of humans aren't the only ones. It's just that they usually get a free pass while others get mudded.

Religion is used to create terrorists, but that does not mean the terrorists are religious people.
They use religion to fuel their cause.
To the targets of terrorism that's a distinction without much meaning in reality. What should we think when religious terms and expressions are used before a terrorist commits suicide (for a possible future religious reward) while killing innocent women and children. I don't hear many say, 'Merry Christmas'.

At least not today. But in the past they did. Ask the aboriginal populations in any country.

I'd like to know what you/we would do if the tables were turned? What if we didn't have a powerful military and another country tried to 'rule' and tell us how we should live? And only pay the most powerful people in the country to do it?

There was a time the U.S. didn't have a powerful military and another country ruled us. 1776 a rag-tagged group under George Washington and others joined to defeat the most powerful nation in the world. Oh yeah, there were no "gun-control" laws.
