I know the difference between them, nsa... but you have to at least acknowledge injustice when you see it...
And please, don't tell me this has nothing to do with justice... 'cause it does

If he was the very first person with this type of injustice in NK then I would have empathy because it could have been me looking at 15 years for not knowing the history of NK (North Korea's defence minister Ri Yong Jin had the misfortune of sleeping in a meeting addressed by Kim, his injustice? death by anti-aircraft gun). Otto sadly did an 'injustice' to his family and loved ones for being a stupid kid because I'll bet at least one person he loved told him not to go because of the well known injustices in NK.

The universe is a harsh mistress.

It's always the Captains fault when his ship gets bent under his control but it looks like he was also hurt. Looks like the Navy ship was broadsided by the container ship. Being that close to shore at night (collision at 2:30 a.m. local time) near the Navy base at Yokosuka means they might have been anchored. (using a sea anchor in deep water). It's also possible they were playing hide me (trying to sneak into harbor without detection) using the container ship as shadow and somebody miscalculated a reaction turn.

It's always the designated Officer in Charge or Commanding Officer's fault. I use to introduce my self to the class I was teaching as "I'm the person the Commandant holds responsible for the activities at ______ station, even when I'm here teaching." Yes, my XPO was "Acting OIC."

Even if the CO was asleep in his rack, they still are responsible.

There will be a board of inquiry. There may be a relief of command. There may be letters of admonishment to others involved in the ship handling. It's not a good day to be the CO of that ship.

The large phased array radar (SPY) on the side of the ship is not used for navigation, that radar is for fire-control. The SPS radar on the mast is for navigation and surface contacts. Hard to believe they didn't know that merchant was headed their way unless the system was shutdown due to EMCON.

(CNN)Seven missing sailors from the USS Fitzgerald were found dead in flooded berthing compartments following the warship's collision with a merchant vessel, a US military official said.

The Navy's 7th Fleet said searchers found the bodies Sunday morning, Japan time, after the guided-missile destroyer returned to its base in Japan.
"This loss is something we all feel," Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin, commander of the US 7th Fleet, told reporters alongside the ship at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan Sunday.

"We have found a number of the remains ... of our missing shipmates, and our deepest sympathies go out to the families of those shipmates," he said.

MALÉ, Maldives — This island paradise made news recently for a reason other than its pristine beaches and high-end resorts: the gruesome killing of a liberal blogger, stabbed to death by multiple assailants.

BAMAKO, Mali (AP) -- Jihadis attacked a hotel resort Sunday in Mali's capital, taking hostages at a spot popular with foreigners on the weekends. More than 30 people managed to escape though at least two people were killed, authorities said.

Moussa Ag Infahi, director of the national police, told The Associated Press that three of the assailants had been killed while a fourth escaped.

the longer we wait.....the more it's gonna hurt. it's hard to surmise and suspect......because we don't know the true facts of the threat. but this NK and Iran nuc thing is worrisome. It's probably a lot worse than we are told and think.

I just don't trust our government now. it seems to be both incompetent and corrupt.

something awfully fishy about that collision. From several different aspects. I don't know how it is in the navy now........but I certainly wouldn't want to be one of the crew on watch. there just is no excuse/reason possible.

It does seem weird. It's not like it was hit with a fiberglass speedboat.
