Hi,
I need to design a temperature controller for my application. I want to start with a basic on-off controller and would like to also work out a PID controller for it (later).
It would be great if somebody could share some good design resource for this / share a link where there may be some pointers available on how to proceed.

I have worked out a basic circuit with an opamp and a power mosfet that implements the on-off circuit, but I am not convinced that I have it all right. I need some more info!!

Is it tougher to design a controller where the controlled variable is AC? I have the option of DC as well as AC in my application and want to know which is the better way.

 

The major IC manufacturers' websites have Application Notes and other documents with temperature controller (and other similar) examples. See http://www.linear.com , http://www.national.com , and http://www.analog.com , for example. Do some searches.
