TDK knows how to create energy...

Last I read, energy cannot be created or destroyed. Today, I found out that TDK has managed to break that law of physics. They write, "A functional Film that Contributes to the Conservation and Creation of Energy." They then go on to describe a new thin-film for touchscreens, windows, and low efficiency photovoltaic panels.

I thought I'd share this for your amusement. No doubt the free-energy community will throw a celebration on account of this great news. ;)

It's funny that they mention the relatively low efficiency of "power generation" compared to other photovoltaics. They apparently don't recognize sunlight as energy, only the electricity that comes out.

Probably a translation by a non-technical person, or even an AI.
To be fair, what do we call a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy? An electrical generator. And what is a common name for a power plant? A power generation facility.

And before electricity was discovered, to generate, you needed two of the same species that are of the opposite sex. Thus "generation" was deemed the correct term for the electrical field because you'd need a generator and an engine, or other source of energy, to generate electricity.

Yes, chemical and solar energy aren't looked at quite the same way as electrical. A gun converts chemical energy to kinetic. A battery converts chemical energy to electrical. A fireplace converts solar energy, stored as chemical energy in the wood, into IR. Non-STEM types have little understanding of such things, and that's OK.

I don't think it's that so much as a matter of focusing on the point of what is being communicated. When we say that we made a loaf of bread, we aren't implying that we made it from nothing. But the ingredients and the process by which they were converted to a loaf of bread is not the focus of the statement -- it's what the end result was that didn't exist and now does. The same with electrical power generation. There is no attempt to imply that the energy involved came out of nowhere, it's just that the point of the statement is that there is now electrical power where before there wasn't.
