I want to use this sensor to signal position for a turntable. I'm not very electrical so would appreciate a wiring diagram that I can build to turn on a led when turntable is in alignment with a certain peg. Any help would be appreciated.
This circuit should work with your TCR5000 reflective opto. The LED will light when it sees reflected light from the IR source. Only one half of the LM393 comparitor is used.
Is this a model railroading turntable? If not, nevermind.
If it is, you will have to make sure that the TCR5000 reacts to a narrow band, since otherwise you will overshoot in both directions and the rails will be misaligned.
Of course, if your drive is slow enough, this effect will be minimized.
From your description, I am assuming manual control. Thus, when approaching the final position you can slow the drive down if you have variable control.
