Synchronizing two different frequencies

Wow, just Now realized I have a different account and user name on my phone.

Anyways as I says before the circuit lestraveled initially posted using the D flip flop is what I am using and it works great. I may also try the one crutschow posted but for now I'll probably use the one with the flip flop as it also gives me a gate reference I am using to drive other parts of my circuit.

With two variable signal generators, even if they were locked to the same reference, missing or truncated pulses is what you will get, it is unavoidable. The TS made the call.
Unless you delay the output pulses by a sufficient amount of time to detect the gating pulse going HI before the end of the pulse. The delay may cause other problems (and since the frequencies are variable having the circuit determine the necessary delay isn't the easiest thing, either) but I think I can envision a way to do this pretty easily.

I'm afraid this comes across as rather patronising. Do you think people post for help on here so they can spend time away from their project to work out something you've done already? By all means show how to work it out but give the answer too!

- First, this is a teaching forum. If you ask a question without having done some work first, you will not get a response that you will like. We expect you to have tried to solve your problem before you ask for assistance.
- Second, go back through this thread and look at the time line. On 29 Jan the TS opened this tread and by the end of the that day there were 85 responses, with valid circuits, including simulations of those circuits. He was continually given methods on how to break down his circuit in order to solve it. Good luck getting that kind of response anywhere else.

This forum is not a vending machine. We are real people with a lot of experience. If you want to learn something, hang out here. If you want it given to you, go somewhere else.

You have a lot chutzpah to come in here on your first post and criticize how someone else answers a question.
Stick around awhile and see how this forum operates before you put in your 1 cents worth. :confused:

So, over the last few months I have worked on making the circuit using a 4011 and 4013. looking back I should have done what Cruschow showed with the 4001's....

I spent a lot of time on a PCB and somewhere I made a mistake....actually several mistakes. It's very frustrating because it worked great in the simulation...SDS00002.png SDS00001.png

First off when I look at the signal coming into pins 1 & 2 on the 4011 I can see the low frequency clipping the bottom of the higher frequency waveform???

Second....my signal coming out of the 4013 looks like the high frequency is riding on top of the low frequency....Instead of how I showed it on my first post.

Any ideas without being able to physically look at my circuit?

Looks like perhaps a ground or decoupling issue.
What do you have for decoupling capacitors?
Look at the power and ground voltage on the chip pins with the noisy outputs.

Thanks for the reply.

The capacitors are all .1uF

I have gone through all the connections and everything looked good but somewhere I've made a mistake....I'll double check the power and ground IC pins.

I thing I noticed right off is that when I connect the 12V power my HF LED comes on?


UPDATE-ONCE AGAIN I HAVE BEEN REMINDED OF THE IMPORTANCE OF DECOUPLING CAPACITORS!
