I'm building a 1/2 scale model of a railroad crossing guard for my kids. I want to use a windshield wiper motor driven by a PICAXE-8 motor controller board through a pair of relays. I've got the mechanics working well and now I need to turn to the electronics, and the one item I haven't yet figured out is the bell ringing sound. I want to use electronic sound rather than an actual bell so I con control the volume. The PICAXE board has the output for a trigger I just don't know what to trigger.

If your building a 1/2 scale system you'll need something with more oomph than a greeting card module. I suggest using one of these for your sound board and you'll need to connect it up with an amplifier and a pair of speakers. You'll be able to incorporate lots of different train sounds. Just finished a project similar using 10 different sound effects. Have fun!
