The "problem" with Strats is that 3 pickups can be wired in so many combinations of boost, buck, and blend, that there is no reasonable way to represent all of them with a 5 way switch. You will find many methods on the Interwebs but you just have to choose which 5 you want in YOUR Strat.

In the first video you say you, "don't want to waste much time on it" at the 30 second mark.
That's crazy. The only, "quick" way to get a Strat that works is buy one, and whatever is in it is what you get.
The minute you want to understand it, you are starting a job that can take days or weeks.

If you're going to get down & dirty with this - you could consider active electronics. A simple JFET pre amp stage eliminates the treble loading of cable capacitance and you can use cheaper off the shelf pots. The downside is finding space for a PP3 battery and having to replace it occasionally.

The DOD FET pre amp is an excellent template, its on various FX site archives.

I found the mild amplification from the device to be more useful than the distortion effect.

I designed a j-fet as a low impedance line driver for one of my audiophool guitar players. He liked best the part about not losing high frequencies in the cord. In theory, you can do anything with a low impedance signal that has good S/N ratio. A single j-fet preamp will accomplish that and run for about 200 hours on a square 9V battery.

Copying the DOD pre amp is a good plan, a simple source follower uses a few less components and might have slight advantages.
