If you say so, I've never seen anything like it. I've had plenty of shrums grow in my yard in the grass, but never seen the likes of this thing.

However, one of my friends introduced this species to me saying his Tomatoes have never been so large. He calls it no till gardening, no need for fertilizers either. Yours reminded me of that, where both share a symbiotic relationship.

In this mutualism, fungal hyphae (E) increase the surface area of the root and uptake of key nutrients while the plant supplies the fungi with fixed carbon (A=root cortex, B=root epidermis, C=arbuscle, D=vesicle, F=root hair, G=nuclei).

Last year I had an ongoing battle with those things. I was like wow, the thing grew around blades of grass. They aren't unique to Florida as I had them all summer in Cleveland, Ohio. Yep, they literally grow overnight. I have not seen any yet this year but last year they kept coming back.
