Strain gauge excitation voltage and supply voltage

Hey all, I am creating a full bridge strain gauge network to measure the torque applied to a shaft. I am then feeding the differential output to an instrumentation amplifier. My question is, is there a benefit to separating the excitation voltage, the voltage across the strain gauges, and the voltage at power terminals of the INA? Is using a 9V battery for the excitation voltage a good idea for increased resolution? Thanks for any help.
