In the case of the 240V primary connection, it seems that the primary coils are in parallel.

If so, will this not produce twice the flux?

Why is the connection not simply between H1-H2? Or H1-H3?

Why both in parallel?

Just realised that 2 coils in parallel will result in half the current in each coil, thus half the flux from each coil. Total flux linkage would be same as if we had connected just one of the coils, right?

So why do we not conenct just one primary coil in this example?

Each primary coil is rated for 240 VAC , when you connect it with 240 VAC you apply it on each coil by making them in parallel,but when you connect it with 480 VAC you connect the coils in series as a result the two coils divide the 480 VAC equally into two parts 240 VAC for each coil,so again the two coil gets 240 VAC and the net(total) flux is also same for each coil.
