Star connected unbalanced load - help with a calculation
Hi I am trying to calculate the phase currents in a star connected un-balanced load.

The phase voltage is 100V and the resistance in the yellow phase is 50Ω

The formula I have is...

100 ∠ -120°
50

I am struggling with how to input this into a calculator and how to get the amps in numerical value for the yellow phase.

All help greatly appreciated - ElecNerd

Your formula will be correct as long as the star point is tied to the neutral conductor and the voltage phase angle is -120° for "yellow" phase convention.

As to entering the numbers using your calculator - you will need to study the user manual on how to do complex number operations.

The calculation you have doesn't really require a calculator. The answer would be 2A @ -120°.
