Lot's of various NP devices but I'd go with diode to start with even though lacking the polarity band...

The diode is shorted so i need to replace it, problem is that i don't have an exact replacement. Would there be any issues if i use any random diode with the same voltage and current ratings ?.

 

As long as it matches the spec any brand will do.

 

Is there a chance the diode could be something else ?, because i got a couple other of these on the board and i took one of to measure with diode check but it only shows open circuit. Any ideas ?.

 

Did you check it in both directions? With a meter in diode test mode to overcome the ~0.7V drop across it?

 

Yes... did so with both my fluke 87's

 

Try these SMD lookups... It might be a Zener with a higher voltage.

Make and model for the equip. to search for schematic or try and reverse engineer the circuit by sketching it out. SMDs are tricky.
Another key may be the exact size, SMA, SMB, etc.
