I am about to build a wired voice intercom for scuba diving.

At the surface, I will most likely be using a 3,5 mm computer headset or similar, in the water, 30 m away, I can use the same, obviously modified and made waterproof.

I have 2 Peltor headsets, that I can use instead if that makes it easier to build.

I need something to amplify the signal with adjustable volume. Simplex or duplex doesn't matter. If duplex would it be two similar systems?

If it helps using fiber optics, that would be fine.

Whether it is off the shelf set, or needs to be built, is not that important.

What do I need in between the two headsets?

How about a full duplex that way it will leave your hands-free to untangle yourself when you're down 30 meters.
