And I also have tested it with a 3V supply. However, since it is a boost topology, your LED arrays MUST HAVE a Vf greater than that voltage.

The 5252F IC has the market sown up , you would be hard pressed to make something cheaper , its around 10 cents in HK.

 

BTW - It seems worth mentioning that there is very little consumer manufacturing that is done here any more. So I'm not sure what your experience in consumer manufacturing even means.
