I'm trying to resurrect a Dremel 756 battery charger. 4.8v nicad battery pack.
I've drawn out the PCB, which seems really simple, but I surely don't understand it.
It seems to have ac going to the LED and no resistors in the circuit. Can that be right?

Can't be right. There's no voltage regulation and the battery would see a reverse voltage.

 

With that circuit the LED cannot ever be lit as the current will go through the diode in parallel with it.

 

I'm embarrassed to say I took this apart probably close to a year ago, and maybe there is another PCB I've misplaced. I've looked a couple times already but guess I need to look harder!Thanks again.
