Despite some problems, the Internet overall is handling unprecedented surges of demand as it keeps a fractured world connected at a time of global catastrophe. The Internet, born as a Pentagon project during the chillier years of the Cold War, has taken such a central role in 21st Century civilian society, culture and business that few pause any longer to appreciate its wonders — except perhaps, as in the past few weeks, when it becomes even more central to our lives. “Resiliency and redundancy are very much a part of the Internet design,” explained Internet pioneer Vinton Cerf

Yeah so many people are staying home and ordering on the net that the online order places are getting overwhelmed with orders. Amazon is looking to hire 100k new workers!

Isnt that a bit racist? Black=0 lowest, White=9 highest
:)
Not sure about that least to greatest doesn’t work is racist, but with electronics I’m not the guy to be saying. But, how interesting is the thought? All black 0% resistance, then Grey which is a mix of black, then is white total epic resistance 9.9G with a an altering need to drain power down to a null effect on the circuit, Grey is almost the same as White 8.8G the magic happens when we mix them together. But, not sure where blue, green, violet, orange, red, play a part in the electronic circuit, maybe it’s a jealousy issue for manipulation and control over electrons. :)

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) – As more people look for joy within their own homes, there’s new meaning in a backyard retreat.

People aren’t just planting flowers and doing yard work, some are putting in new fences and decks to maximize outdoor pleasure during a time when everyone is asked to stay at home.

Cascade Fence and Deck said new fencing is popular as more pets and kids are spending more time at home and then there’s more people taking happy hour to the patio.
...
Both Cascade Fence and Deck and Rick’s Custom Fencing and Decking are offering virtual estimates and no-contact installations. They are working as normal in Oregon, with precautions. In Washington state, COVID-19 rules are stricter and fencing companies can only provide very specific essential services, such as installing a fence to keep children safe.
Fence repair is on the CV job list as I did the deck work last year.

So did we but it came down to 60s and quit raining. Spring time...
That's another thing. Likely 80% of the days we break 60 it's raining. Between COVID and this local weather things are getting old real quick. Here we sit in this trough while everywhere else seems above average we remain below average. Sheltering in place would be fine if the place had a nice climate. :)

Well, 60s is a nice respite from the 90s and the last 2 weeks of rain and the wind is blowing to keep the bugs down so it was one of the very few nice days we get every year even with being windy. I even stuck my head out of the house for a while in the yard so I'll mark it down as a good'un. In Maine, we said it only had 2 seasons, snow or mud. At least no snow here in the last few years and some years not even a frost. But the BUGS! And seems they all have teeth...

Back from my RV trip to the tribal casino near Spokane WA. The place was pretty full, with a 20 min wait for COVID inspection and occupational limits. It sure was nice to sit at the bar and have a drink with other people. Only the buffet was closed.

Nice to know the casinos are open and running. Thinking not so much here in Ohio yet and I miss the buffet at our local MGM Grand. Formerly it was a Rockcino (owned and operated by Hard Rock) and they have great food deals for seniors. :)

It's a 600+ mile round-trip drive from the house so it's not local. None of the day-trip locals have an opening date yet.

It was pretty sad to see the condition of small town after small town closed and empty from shutdown orders tailored to big cities. I wouldn't travel with the family without a fully stocked (including various hand cannons) RV. We used the interstate rest stop truck lanes for driving breaks and camped at the grassy side of the casino parking lot with about 6 or 7 other travelers with all types of units. The guy behind me had a super nice Class A, while the guy in front had a tow trailer and pickup truck.

Overall it was a great 'let's get away' drive, during great weather, in light traffic.

A guy I know built 4 of those out of cardboard for the kids to drive in a parade. It was an absolute riot as they performed unsynchronized maneuvers. Stopping to light off firecrackers in the barrels. The barrels were capped off inside so they would light the cracker and cap the barrel and it would give off a nice little puff and roar. The kids really had a blast doing it.
