While the confusion may have "been easily corrected", possibly, but if damage caused by over-voltage caused by the confusion has been done, THAT is not so easily corrected in some instances. Please understand that the discussion is not about confusion of "the terms used are common knowledge to those versed in the art", but about the confusion of someone hoping to install a very "high tech" electronic computerized video doorbell button package, which, by the way, is fairly expensive, costing as much as a weeks worth of groceries. (for some folks).
My point was, don't try to answer all questions on impulse. Jumping in with incorrect assumptions about things you don't really have much experience with only adds to possible confusion. A little self-assessment of "is this really helpful" works wonders. We are all guilty of that but some are 'more' guilty than others.

I have done nothing "on impulse". The reality is that not everybody is equally experienced nor are they all equally exposed to what others use constantly. Many of the requests for advice in these forums will verify that claim. Not everybody is familiar with every technical term and every acronym and abbreviation. And unfortunately not all folks realize that they do not know.

That not the point. The supplier of answers to those requests unfortunately sometimes don't realize what they do not know.

It's not because they don't have great general knowledge, it's that many technical subjects have jargon/term of art with specific background meaning those not deeply in those specific fields will likely not see the true meaning of said terms.

This often leads to IMO, tangent off tilter posts to bring things back to the points the OP questions were really about.
