I can remember plenty of mnemonics. Kathy parks carts on front gates (Kingdom phylum class order...), Every good boy does good, etc. But I have to have a visual reference when I'm working with resistors. Am I the only one who uses a card like this?
I can never find my card when I need it... ever have a situation where you need to figure it out without help? Yes it's slow... but it works and sometimes just getting a few bands and you can distinguish between a number of them... or look at the multiplier when you need a certain value that's not too critical... etc.
I have apps on my phone and ipad. These online calculators are very helpful... none of which existed back when I learned electronics...
