Hello,

You seem to be talking to the wind. I already told you i had success with thsi kind of testing under the right conditions. BTW when i tested that TV i talked about i had no other way to limit the current for the test because i didnt have a variac back then and no power resistors that could handle the possible current.
So it appears you are the one not listening, or at least not reading my replies. Try reading my reply next time before posting a reply yourself and trying to understand what is being said.

Pretty good sport for overlooking that you basically called me a liar.

I've spent a lot of years learning the hard way what don't work so well as I thought it would.

I gave you the words of wisdom and you kept on digging the hole you're in - I just wish I could watch the pile of scrap you're generating.

You are assuming that there is only one solution here when there are really two, that's the only problem. You're saying that i basically called you a liar but i never said that. I said basically that what did not work for you worked for me and i gave an example that you seem to want to ignore because you seem to think that what you experienced must be true in every circumstance.
I cant see how you can possibly continue to believe what you stated after hearing evidence to the contrary. It doesnt mean you are a liar just that you've never done it this way. That should not be too hard to believe.
I thought your previous reply was clever even though you did not agree that's why i said you seemed to be a good sport, but i dont think you should be so judgemental. Just because i used a light bulb in a situation which you did not does not mean you should try to say that it's never possible.
But hey it's up to you, use a light bulb, dont use a light bulb, it's always your choice and i wont try to take that away from you. I dont force people to do anything they dont want to do in their testing or design or whatever, i just make suggestions.
And the only hole i might be digging into is the whole of truth and respect for other's opinions and experiences.

Insinuating that I lied is pretty low - mis representing what I did say is a whole 'nother level.

Hello,

Here is the resistance curve for a bulb i tested back in the early 1990's.
The min resistance is about 6.2 ohms, the max is about 62 ohms.
With a 50 ohm resistor in series and 1.5v applied to the circuit, the bulb resistance falls in at around 38 ohms.
With the bulb min resistance the max current is about 27ma in circuit.
With the thermal effect that sets in pretty quick, the current settles in at around 17ma.

There are better models on the web that describe the bulb in detail and include the thermal effects which take care of the thermal time constant as well as the thermal inertia.
