Replacing Fluorescent Tube Lamps

I have lots of fluorescent "shop lights" and re-did my basement last year with LED equivalents. What a change!

My barn has six, 8' fixtures, each with double bulbs. They are about 18' above the floor. Upon reading the specs and the apparent brightness of LED fixtures, I am considering replacing them with 6 (or 8 at most) 4' LED fixtures with double bulbs.

Has anyone here made a similar exchange? Of course, I can buy 8' LED replacement bulbs, but user comments indicate they can sag. The ceiling area of the barn gets awfully hot in the Summer. Another reason to consider smaller fixtures is the weight, as I work alone.

For the smaller (4') fixtures, I will probably buy new fixtures with LED lamps. For the 8' fixtures, I was considering just the bulbs, which reportedly sag. An 8' fixture is a bit heavy when working from a ladder at 70+ years old. That's the basis of my question -- replacing 8' conventional fluorescent fixtures with 4' LED fixtures.

There are a few Utube video's that are interesting on converting the different fixture versions, electronic ballast versus inductive ballast etc.
Direct replacement tubes etc.

Just go to your thread, click on "Thread Tools," and edit title to [SOLVED]...

That won't stop replies, but it may help.

Posted wrong thread.

Thanks for pointing that out. Was headed out the door and just checked back. I used this thread to check the sequence and had forgotten to switch back to the intended thread.
