I have the following buzzer installed in my clothes dryer and it's the most god awful sound so I want to replace it with a resistor. It only buzzes for about 3 seconds at a time. The schematics for dryer calls for 1000-3000ohm and the buzzer is rated a 7.8W would I be able to get away with a smaller resistor so I don't have to order one in the mail?

 

The dryer doesn't know and doesn't care if the buzzer is removed.
Insulate its connecting wires well.

 

My folks (parents) had a microwave oven with a particularly nasty piezo buzzer that insisted on sounding repeatedly when the oven shut off.

I fixed it with a rather long drywall screw applied with a power driver.

Whatever works, works. And sometimes, you might just have to kill something.

Yes this is the problem! If the load is dry it will buzz every 10 minutes until you shut it off.... so if you want to leave a load running before you go to bed, forget about it!
