I'm currently working on a minor project, and part of it involves replacing a microphone input on a small circuit with a headphone jack. The Jack has the usual three pins: Left, Right, and Ground, and the microphone it's replacing has two, simply labelled "Positive" and "Negative," Where negative seemingly goes to Ground. Tried doing ground the negative and everything else to positive, it didn't work.

 

There are mostly two completely different types of microphones, electret and dynamic. It feeds the preamp circuit designed for its type.

So I'd need some kind of converter?
