Real implementation of series stubs and parallel stubs

I'm studying transmission lines and matching networks, in particular series and shunt stubs.
I have some difficulties with their real implementation, in particular series stubs, in coaxial cable and microstrip.
How are realized series stubs in those technologies?

Thanks for your answer but it's not what I'm searching for. I perfectly know stubs and transmission lines but I can't realize how series stubs are realized in coaxial technology and in microstrip technology.

Could you explain an example of physical realization of them, please? For example in coaxial technology or microstrip technology?
Simplest example is to break the shield and run two parallel conductors, a fixed distance apart, at right angles to the center conductor. This would be a series stub with an open termination. Is it useful? Depends on the impedance at the frequency of interest.
