Hi Guys,

I am trying to figure out and check the value of a resistor. It's from an electric fencer built probably sometime in the 70's / 80's and was covered in some kind of paint / coating. It didn't look to smart and etching of the paint I can see Yellow, blue, violet and red. It measures at circa 27meg but should it be 460m going by the colour band or am I missing something?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Red, violet, blue, yellow would be 27M. The yellow is a failure rate, 0.001%.

 

It is probably red, violet, blue, gold, 27MΩ ±5%.
