It has a solar panel to charge the battery. A hand crank will power the radio but you would have to crank for a very long time to charge the battery.

Can you replace the internal battery? You most likely can.

Does it run on D-type cells? Probably not.
But you can create an external 5 V battery pack to provide input power.
Will it accept 6 V input from four D cells? Check the specs.

Carefully consider that the description of that radio DOES NOT HAVE ANY of the important specifications that every radio has: The ACTUAL tuning frequency range, the receive sensitivity, the audio output power, and the actual power supply voltage.
All that the description covers is a list of the "features", The listing does not even give the actual dimensions of the radio or even the speaker size.. So my suggestion is do not waste your money because the radio is poor quality. Consider that they are selling service plans at a tenth of the price of the radio. An adequate quality radio would have a Free warranty included, for at least a year.
