Heh, I didn't get past Menards (Midwestern competitor of Lowes / Home Depot) whose "Bright Aluminum" window replacement screen is described as having :"

  • Protective finish prevents corrosion and strengthens the weave
  • Finish reduces glare for improved visibility
  • Natural aluminum finish is a popular choice for restoration projects

They also have a black version.

Not sure what that finish would be...

I checked Ace Hardware for Brass screen. None listed online, but, they do have Bronze - at $389.99 for a 2' x 100' roll, as the cheapest option. Well, that's several times too much cost...

Back to Aluminum, if I can get down to bare Aluminum and need to solder, I do have flux for Aluminum wire around here somewhere... I may even have a little Aluminum screen someplace. Plus a bit of galvanized steel 1/4" mesh (another potential corrosion problem.)

Agreed about the Aluminum flashing*, and have some, but, yes, for this use the wind load would be too great.

....The biggest problem your various Antennas probably have is
lack of Signal-Rejection to the rear, or "back", of the Antenna.

Using an old Satellite-Dish as a Reflector may also solve the problem.

Many commercially available Antennas are actually very poor designs.

Do You have any interest in building your own DIY-Antenna ?

gh directionality to eliminate your Multipath problems.

In my particular case the worst reflections & possible blockages would be generated in front of the antenna.

Q1: Will a reflector behind a flat panel indoor antenna typically improve its reception in the "forward" direction if the reflector is spaced "ideally" behind the antenna? Is "ideally" likely around 4"? (I'm just wondering as I have such an antenna and it'd be easy to experiment with.) In this instance a solid sheet of metal (flashing) is practical...

Q2: Any good links to DIY antennas / plans?

Oh, here's the "environment" (below). I didn't bother to draw in the many trees to the east and south of our house, but we do get the station to the East more often than not... TV1 and TV2 are in different rooms with a small room (bathroom) between them, tough but not impossible wire pass through access above.
