I am looking at a old Triplett model 430 part number 5390615 0-25A ammeter. Does anyone know if this ammeter has a built-in shunt? Can I pass 0-25A directly through it ?

If you have a multimeter set it to the lowest ohms range or diode check and connect it to the ammeter terminals. If you see any significant deflection of the meter needle then it does not have an internal shunt.
