i have a small Bluetooth module that id rather not have the battery in. but when the battery is removed the module stops working. the device was going to be powered by 5v regulatior (LM7805) via the usb port but now im thinking of just using the battery line on the board along with a diode to stop it from charging itself. do you think the voltage difference with matter? minus the battery at 4.2v the new power source will be 0.8v higher. could this be a disaster? also another option i was thinking of would be to use an LM317 to emulate the battery voltage. but it would be much easier if the battery terminals could take the full 5v.

what do you think peoples?
