I have a Zebra TLP 2824 + Label printer that I would like to run of a battery. The unit is currently powered by a 20v DC power adapter. My question is if I use a 18V battery to power the unit will the 10% decrease in voltage damage the unit.

Your input and thoughts appreciated.

It should not Damage the unit, but it probably won't work at all.

 

How much current does the printer require? And will the battery be able to supply that much current for enough time. Those are the questions.
My guess is that the printer will probably work, but not at the desired performance as the battery drains. But I do not think the printer would be damaged, UNLESS the polarity becomes reversed.

 

Yeah you were right printer operated but the print quality is poor due to insufficient current supply for thermal transfer operation to work effectively. Prints are smuged. Was worth a try.
