Dear Team,

For series termination, we need to place the termination resistor close to the driver
and for parallel termination, we need to place the resistor close to the receiver.

what will happen if did not place it close to the driver/receiver and why?

There will be sections of unterminated line between the driver/receiver and the termination, which may cause reflections.
The point of termination is to stop the reflections from the unterminated end, because they can distort the data waveform.

Hi Ian,

Thank you very much.
I understood if terminations are not there reflections will be present in the line.

My question is

what will happen if termination resistors are not close to the receiver/ driver?

Reflections are caused by wave propagation at the ends of the improperly terminated transmission line.
If you put termination partway on the line then the rest of the line is not properly terminated. You will still get reflections.
