There is a parameter called placement angle in ST code which is defined as angle between peak of the backe emf of U phase with respect to the first raising edge of the hall signal as shown below

what does the peak of the back emf actually tell me regarding the rotor position?

 

Any hints? even if I don't consider ST logic how to derive the rotor 0 electrical angle from the hall sensors.
