Pickit 2 Availibility

I can't promise that your experience would match mine, but for the last few years I've used a PICKit2 clone purchased from an Asian vendor via eBay, and it has been totally satisfactory. A small thing that does what it does reliably. There should be more of those things in life.

I use MikroC and a freestanding interface program, and I never touch MPLAB! The only problem, of course, is that a PICKit2 is limited to older processors. It would be a fine thing if someone could come out with an easy way to update the software for new chips as they appear.

But recalibration is only necessary if the factory OSCCAL value gets accidently overwritten.
Which can happen if using the PICKit2, but not with PICKit3.
Mchip set the OSCCAL value at 3.5V, 25°C. You might want recalibrate for different voltages or temperatures.
