Can C type PIC's be programmed with PICKit 2 or 3 please?

Looks like C devices crossed over to F devices. 16C84 and 16F84.

16C54/57 and 16F54/57.

Hello,

Also the C type is available in two versions.
The OTP , one time programmable. (most times there are in a plastic housing, these can not be eraised anymore).
The version with a window, that can be eraised with UV light. These most times have a ceramic / stone like housing.

Hello to you

Can the C54 and C57 be reprogrammed over and over with a PICStart?

BTW. Guy on Ebay has some PICStart Lite's he's dumping for a couple bucks each.

You two probably know about Ubicom Scenix SX's. Goal is to interchange them with C54.

Crossover between old MPLAB and some other old Scenix compilers.

Only if you erase them first, using a UV EPROM eraser. Some PICxxCxx parts cannot be erased, as they don't have the UV-transparent quartz window over the die. These are known as OTP (One-Time Programmable) parts.

Oh, good grief! Why in the world are you dorking around with such obsolete crap????????

MIcrocontroller Archeology?

I think it's interesting.

Fun using first class software and hardware for cheap.

So you would cringe if I picked up a Promate II or ICE 2000?

I have a Promate II with adapters for those chips. ICE2K too but not the processor modules for those. Let me know if you are interested.

John Thank you !

Regarding this interest in PIC 16C54/57 and Scenix SX28, etc.

I am solely interested in seeing how they made this SX Editor compiler.

It ties in with making a current PIC C compiler and assembler for hobbyists

There are that kind of thing around in abundance. They just seem to have downsides.

Like being overly proprietary..

I would say Microchip's top gun at the moment is the 32MX.

Yes. I am aware of PIC's today.
