Photodiode selection

Hello everyone,
I am working on my final project "Sunload sensor for vehicle application". I'm searching for some info about photodiodes: what parameters and characteristics are the most important. May have any articles or books where I could find deep information about photodiodes. Also, infrared diode vs photodiode, is there any significant difference to choose? Or both of them are well applicable?
Thank you for your answers!

Hello.

"Sunload sensor for vehicle application"
Is not a very helpful description of your application. In general you will find white papers, applications notes, and guides on the website of photodiode manufacturers. It should not be hard to find.

If you can expand on what your application is, it might be possible to be more helpful.

Main idea is to measure intensity of Sun irradiance. Sensor's (IR sensor or photodiode) output signal is sent to climate control module so that a temperature might be regulated.

Wouldn’t a thermometer in the car be much more appropriate to manage cooling? What does the solar sensor add? How will it improve cooling control?

Thermistor does not measure sun rays. Solar sensor add optimization for cooling system
You just repeated what you said before. Why is measuring the sun a better or even useful way to control a car cooling system. Measuring internal temperature is a direct method for determining if the cooling system needs to run or not.

How will you use the information about the sun to manage cooling in a way that is better than, or that enhances, the measurement of temperature of the car's interior? Why do it at all?

Since this is schoolwork the only answers you will get are based on work you do. We won't do the work for you. If you can't explain why you are using measuring solar radiation instead of temperature, how can I help?

On the surface, it makes little sense. It also seems your choice of photodiode is not based on the requirements of some design but instead on a random guess that since it can detect light it would be useful in this case.

So, please, explain why you would choose to measure solar radiation to manage interior cooling of a car when temperature is a direct measurement of what you are trying to control?

If it is about measuring sun irradiance, I think you'd better use BH1750 - Light Intensity Sensor Module instead.
