PCB Connector

Hi, could somebody help me identify the type of PCB connector for the 12 way single row socket on the circuit board in the attached photo. The socket measures 31mm x 4mm and the pitch of the pins is 2.85mm. I've looked at many IDC type connectors but they all seem to have smaller pin pitches.

How did you measure the pitch? That connector looks like the ubiquitous JST XH connector iin a 12 pin configuration which would make it 2.54mm.

That wold also mean it doesn’t mate with an IDC connector but with one having discrete crimped pins.
Hi Yaalov
I measured between the centers of two adjacent pins with a digital measuring device (called a vernier gauge in times past)

The XH connector is so common and your measured pitch so unusual, I feel there is a measurement error. The 2.54mm pitch is based on .1” which is why it is a strange number. Other pitches are native mm (1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, &c.) so that 2.85mm (.11”) seems to have no rationale.

The datasheet I linked has other dimensions, do they match? Are they off by a similar amount? If you measure the pins on the backside of the board instead of in the connector shell, what you do get?

Hi Yakkov
I might have made an error in measurement and your explanation of the standard measurements sounds reasonable. So, I've ordered a 12 pin, 2.54mm XH connector from Ebay and I'll try that before I take the circuit board apart to measure the pin pitch on the reverse side of the board, which is not easy to get at because of the aluminium mounting plate. I'll post a reply when the connector arrives and I've tried it.

I expect it will fit, and will be quite surprised if it doesn’t. I look forward to an update.

Good point Hexreader. I measured from pin 1 to pin 12 and found it to be 28.01mm, equating to a pitch of 2.546mm. It looks like you guys were right. I eagerly await delivery of the connector from Ebay and solving the problem.
