Mostly I use an old Simpson 260

Haven't used one of those in probably 30 years.
You really need to move forward a few decades and buy a digital multimeter.

 

looks cools though... love old stuff like my magnetic vice... the rectifier tube died so I replaced it with diodes thing looks like something out of Frankenstein's lab... works great.

 

Just for fun, here is a photo of the "octopus" project. It is made using an old Precicion meter case
and the front aluminum plate is last years auto license plate. All the parts and hardware were
junk box materials.

I'm thinking of renaming it the "ARACHNID".
