I'm building a simple octopus/curve tracer. For the ground, can I use the ground tab on my oscilloscope?

But…I would use earth ground from the AC output if available, just in case the transformer develops a fault. Maybe I’m overly cautious but when dealing with the AC power lime a fuse is recommended just in case.
