Noob questions about power switches

I'm playing with a bidirectional DC switch simulation, mostly for self-education (see the attachment):

1. To my limited knowledge, the charge pump capacitor is usually referenced to the power mosfet source and charged from Vcc, while in this simulation it's the other way around. Anything wrong with this approach?

2. If M12 is omitted and EN_Z pulled down, the voltage at the power mosfet sources is roughly -2V (Vgs is 2V), but the mosfets nonetheless stay fully turned off. Is this situation unstable? Is M12 neccessary?

3. Any other problems with this circuit?
