@OBW0549 did a pretty nice job of summing up the role of the mod staff.

New Things I've Learned on AAC Recently

Unless a member is violating the ToS/UA, we really have no grounds upon which to delete or edit posts that contain wrong information. Usually wrong information is an invitation to a discussion that seeks to correct that information and that discussion is usually beneficial overall. Perhaps even to the person that posted the original information depending on how strongly wedded that person is to their views. As others have noted, some members are so out there and their views so bizarre and their history so firmly establishing that they have no clue about what they are talking about that it is pointless to try to engage them in a discussion on them. In those cases, they are routinely ignored except when someone believes they are actively detrimental to the discussion. Even then, it's up to the membership (including the mods acting as members, not as mods) to inject sanity.

The moderators can speak for themselves about what they do. It is not for you to define that job or even have any expectations for what it is or isn't. Most importantly this forum is not run by the participants, it is run by the owners.
Where do you get the idea I'm attempting to define anyone's job, that I have any expectations or that I'm trying to run this forum? Nothing I wrote comes close to even suggesting that and it surely wasn't said by me. You put that together on your own. Let me reiterate for you, this was not posted in this topic forum. It was another's choice to put it here. I suppose I need to apologize to you for asking questions?

So I could post something like this and I wouldn't be called CRAZY
Rocket hitting the flat earth dome
Go figure
Damn I wish they'd add some roll stability to that rocket.

Edit: something heavy broke off the rocket due to centripetal forces and carried away the rotational momentum. That's my take.

You mean the earth is flat "AND" has a dome.
We need to change some school text books.
But I have another question
If the flat earth has a dome.......How do the meteors get in o_O

Part of joining the forum required selecting a profession from a list that was limited to what is generally considered professional occupations. I have since learned that fitting a profession on the list isn't a requirement but that wasn't known at the time.

Observation is a learning method. Can't deny that but is it efficient when asking questions takes learning to the same place, just much quicker. Again, I didn't post this question here under this topic. I didn't mean for this to be an open discussion. Somebody else chose to do this. My apologies.
You have nothing in this thread to apologize to me for. My point is a straightforward one and that is, again, that it takes some time to understand the relatively complex dynamics of this kind of media.

I read the subsequent posts regarding the role of moderators and your understanding of that particular issue now. What I am saying, however, is that there is a great deal of understanding and interpretation that is gained through a gradual process of experience.

For example, you have expressed a lack of understanding about why your post was moved and that it was not intended for open discussion. From experience, I know that posts in the "Suggestions / Feedback" are, in fact open to discussion, even there and even when they strictly fit the intended scope of the purpose of that sub Forum. I also would point you to this passage in the User Agreement (some of the formatting is messed up from the cut and paste, but you can read it in its original form from a link on every single page:

5.Role of the Moderators. The Moderators are here to help the membership. If a moderator believes that a question will draw more attention or help in another forum, they may move the thread to draw more responses. If a topic or post has accidentally been duplicated, they will remove the extraneous post. A new topic that repeats a previous topic might be merged for the convenience of the membership. Moderators may also offer occasional encouragement to keep debates civil, should the need arise. When debates become heated the Moderators reserve the right to closed or moderate threads and posts that may be deemed unsuitable in the wider interests of the community.
  1. The Administration and Moderating Team reserves the right to edit your posts, threads, and user information in any way they deem necessary. The Moderators will only do such a thing if there is a reason and such reasons will not be questioned. Reposting content that was removed by The Moderators will result in swift action and a ban.

Although the All About Circuits Administration and Moderation Team will attempt to keep all objectionable posts and threads off this forum, it is impossible for Us to review all messages. Therefore if You come across post or threads that violate Our User Agreement, or contain any offensive, illegal, or otherwise contentious content on The All About Circuits Forums, please alert a member of the Administration and Moderating Team and we will deal with the offending content. Please report offending posts using the "Report" link under a post.
If you have a question for a moderator that is not intended for open discussion , contact that moderator directly through a "conversation".

Now, all that being said, I can remember having a post that I made in that forum and, in my opinion, very much on topic, that were deleted and the thread locked with the notation or message sent to me to send those suggestions directly to a moderator.

I chose NOT to do that and, in fact, resented the interaction because it violated the "open community" idea of discussing any proposed changes. Ok, big deal, lesson learned and I am no (more) damaged for the experience.

The summary point that I am making is to give yourself some time to read and digest and see how things are handled. Yes, asking a question is, sometimes, the quickest way to get an answer, but sometimes the answer "all depends".

Thank you and you are right. My intention was not to ruffle any feathers here. Understanding context can take time so you're spot on. Understanding the humor of members is not an ask a question type of thing. That takes time. I will be more thoughtful about what I post.

I don't think y'all really understand. Today I've learned that Mass isn't a force. Toruses aren't real, there's such a thing as scalar and vector products.
AND on top of that all I'm really Russian
I'm having a bad day!
