Hello everyone,

i am new to circuits and electronics so bear with me if i am not so competent as some of you are here. I hava a car with 2 buttons behind the steering wheel one for upshifting and one for downshifting. You have 2 cables coming off each button, one yellow and black and one blue and black. the yellow and blue wires connect to the car (12v) on the buttons there are a zener diode(upshift) and a 100Ω resistor(downshift). The states of the buttons are NC for the up and NO for the down. The black cables of the buttons are connected to each other. Now i measured the voltages and when no button is pressed i have 5.1v, when the upshift button is pressed i have 12v-14v and when i press the downshift button 1-1.5v.

Here is the question, how would you design the circuit so i can use 2 NO switches(other than the buttons) to get the 3 states? I tried with a zener diode but i cant seem to get the results i want.

Thank you and sorry for the long post

Sorry the resistor was in the up switch and the zener in the down switch. Measured after the resistor and the (-) of the circuit
