I have no clue what kind of plug this is. It is attatched to an Emerson electric motor 115volt. Is there a way to re wire this to a regular 3 prong grounded plug? The wire is 14/4 red(hot), black(hot), white(neutral) , and green(ground).

Thats what i would like to do but what im not sure about is... The original plug has 2 hot wires (red+black) and the regular grounded plug i need to replace it with has only black. So when i am re wiring it what do i do with the extra red wire?
Knowing what the motor came from would be helpful. So would seeing how it's wired internally where the cord connects as well. One line may be of no use now for your application.

Personally, if it was me I would just wire it up using either the red or the black line for power and see if it runs normally. If so don't worry about the rest. Either it runs corectly or it don't.

Okay here's a few more pictures okay is yours a few more pictures it is a continuous servo motor I think it could need both the red and the black wires because it is a multiple speed motor. I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking each Hotwire is for a different speed on the engine.
