Basically I would like to be able to switch an LED on and off. But for some reason when I push the switch it turns off, I would like to push the switch so it turns on. I cannot upload images so here is an image of the current circuit I have set up. Can some please help me trouble shoot?

Are you aware how a breadboard is connected inside?

I am aware of how they work. Am I supposed to connect one positive wire from the power supply or two? Same for the negative? That is where I am confused.

Here is the basic schematic on how to connect the led and battery:

The resistor can be separate or in the led, when it is designed for a special voltage.

Thank you for your help. I have managed to connect them. I have attached another photo of my breadboard. I am not sure if the resistor is connected properly would you be able to tell me? I do not have a multimeter handy at the moment.
